Like you, I can just not get my head around everything that is going on.
Every day my stomach is turning like my washing machine and eating is the last thing on my mind but for others it will be the opposite.
When is a snack not a snack but a meal?
Having nutritious snacks to eat during the day can help you stay energised and productive.
But coming up with ideas for snacks that are easy to prepare, healthy can be difficult especially if you are at home and other naughty choices are around you.
Nuts and dried fruit make for a healthy, non-perishable snack mix.
This filling combo has a good balance of all three macronutrients, with healthy fats, protein from nuts and carbs from dried fruit. What’s more, both foods are loaded with fibre that can help keep you feel full between meals.
Guacamole is a delicious dip typically made from avocados, lime, onion, and coriander. It goes great with bell pepper slices or other raw veggies.
Plus, avocados are high in monounsaturated fats that have been shown to support healthy blood cholesterol levels and heart health.
Apple slices with natural peanut butter make for a delicious, satisfying snack.
Peanut butter contributes protein and healthy fats, while apples are high in fiber and water, making them particularly filling. In fact, 1 medium apple (182 grams) is over 85% water and has more than 4 grams of fiber.
Plain, unsweetened Greek yogurt is a convenient snack that’s higher in protein than regular yogurt.
A 6-ounce (170-gram) container of plain, low-fat Greek yogurt has 17 grams of protein for only 140 calories. Plus, it’s loaded with calcium, a mineral that’s important for strong bones and teeth
To make this treat even more tasty and filling, add healthy fruit and nuts.
Hummus is a delicious dip made from chickpeas, tahini, garlic, olive oil, and lemon juice that goes great with carrots.
Hummus contains fiber, protein, and healthy fats, while carrots are loaded with beta carotene, a precursor for vitamin A in your body.
Eating foods with beta carotene can help boost immunity and promote optimal vision and eye health.
Ok there are a few choices for you to try, the message here is make time to prepare a snack or you WILL grab for the first thing you see and 9 times out of 10 that will not be the best choice and could possibly contain just as many calories as a meal.
When your snacks become as calorie rich as your meals you may just be eating too much!

Monday morning – nothing to wear!

Just to make you smile/laugh for a minute.
I got up Monday morning at the same time as I did not want to get into bad habits on day one, but then I thought what am I going to wear.
A normal Bra
Jeans
Jumper
Socks
Shoes
But all I wear is sports bra’s, black jogging bottoms, Move 2 Lose tops, trainers and trainer socks, so I stayed in my pj’s for a while.
Tuesday up as normal (what’s normal anymore) Boris had started the lock down and suddenly all those things that I used to think about are not so important anymore.

 whats app

The whats app page can be a little crazy at times but if we all stick to the 8am and 9pm rule along with thinking about content I think we should keep it going. Limit videos please and only photo’s that will uplift us at this time.
Why not set up your own whats app group, it’s easy to do, ask a 3 year old!
Jim posted a picture of his “rowing machine” and asked you to guess how many strokes he did up until Saturday evening (last night) 2147 I think that makes Kim the closest.
Jim will now make a donation to the Zoo – well done Jim/Kim.

Diary

This is HISTORY in the making.
None of us will want to remember what we are going through but our children and grandchildren will ask questions in the future about this dreadful time.
Yes documentaries will me made, front pages of newspapers will be kept but how about a few words/letters from you. Let’s be honest you have the time!
The letter A
I headed this newsletter with the letter A. I wonder each week as I add a letter to the newsletters where I will get to until I teach and see you all again!
A = anxiety, pick up the phone and talk to someone.
Is there someone out there that could do with a message or chat…you have time, do it.
I might just call you, I have the time.
