Welcome to all the new members that joined in 2019.
Why not make a “cuppa” and read today’s newsletter, take each event and have a little thought/reflect over your time with Move 2 Lose this year.
Move 2 Lose is not all about losing weight. Move 2 Lose is not all about getting fit. Move 2 Lose can be so much more. For many it has helped with health issues, for many coming off medication, for many a chat over a cuppa, for many new friends have been made. So what does Move 2 Lose give you, I would be interested to know.
2019 Looking Back
Where has this year gone and what have we done? In no particular order, and I’m sure I would have missed something.
A tough start to the new year for my family with the loss of my Aunty. This brought about the Move 2 Lose “Whats App” group which is only used in emergencies if you would like to be added to this group please speak to Julie in class.

Bags/Aprons and Peg Bags
Jenny spoke to me in class about a lady that had passed away leaving a huge collection of handmade bags and aprons that her family did not know what to do with. Yes you all know me well enough and within a few days they were being sold in class. There was a bundle of material and I spoke to Liz about carrying on the lady’s work and within a few weeks we had peg bags and Christmas stockings. In September the grand total of £550 was split between The Tom Bowdidge Charity and The Mary Barron Suite at Colchester General Hospital.
Life Boat Jars RNLI
Never did Jenny/Janet or myself expect to collect so many little jars full of 5p pieces. We have raised a massive amount of £1285.65 all of which goes to the Life Boat Charity.
June was the month that I was invited back to the Hospital to see the building work of the new cancer unit sponsored by COHOC (Colchester Hospital Charities)
It was an honour to be shown around and to write on an inside wall of the Tom Bowdidge teenager section.
We presented Nikki with a cheque for £1424.68 and if you add on the boys marathon that is £2059.68 that Move to Lose raised for this charity, wow, wow, and wow.
Class member Christine donated a huge tub of 5p pieces and the total was £251.80 of which the RNLI and Stanway Rovers Football Club each received £125.90
This was the month we all went “Pink” for breast cancer awareness week and raised £257.29 in class plus £110 on the Face Book just giving page and then sold Jewellery which raised another £135.90 bringing the total money raised £503.19. With a new year came a new class format, Fitness Pilates drop in classes on a Monday night and the Fitness Pilates course that runs on a Wednesday morning – both classes at Shrub End Hall. Well done to all of you that attend as stretching the body will also stretch your mind.
Thank you Corinne, Nawal, Julie, Sylvia and of course Pauline (mum) for everything you do, it’s not just taking the money, it’s loading and unloading the car in all weathers and putting up with my moaning.
Thank you to Debbie for helping me in class and the shop, also Tracey and Phyllis our tea ladies for running the kitchen at Shrub End.
New Charity for the beginning of 2020
2020 will bring another year of our little shop and charity collections. I have asked you to choose this time and there is a list in class for you to vote.
Please bring along any unwanted christmas gifts that can be used as raffle prizes, go in the shop or can be taken to the night shelter.
This makes a grand total of over 5 thousand pounds raised by us @ Move 2 Lose, well done everyone.
