Sunday News
Hello everyone, the weeks are flying past so quickly and it will soon be time for me to hang up my trainers, NOT for good just a few weeks rest. Don’t miss next weeks class as I have some HOT news for you all!
It’s not been so hot today, start your winter cleaning, sorting out plates and glasses for the big day, it is never too soon to start preparing.
Age Concern Colchester
Request from a class member.
Our first charity for 2018
Julie I just wondered if I could nominate Age Concern Colchester for one of the next charities we collect in class for please in the New Year.
It only has 4 paid staff and has over 70 volunteers (me being one of them).
As an independent charity in Colchester.
Example of my day this week:
Took a call from an elderly lady who had poor vision could not remember how to call the Doctors surgery , felt unwell and was crying.
I called the surgery and by lunchtime she had had a home visit by her GP and was at ease again
A couple came into the office whereby the wife was her husbands carer as he had Parkinsons, and they were struggling as paying for taxis etc. I referred them to our Advisory person (1 of the paid staff) and they were able to be eligible for Attendance allowance and also a blue badge as they were not aware that this was not means tested.
Another gentlemen did not realise that he had to make the call to the Works and Pension Dept to claim his pension and he had been waiting 6 months, I made he call on his behalf in the office and he will now get backdated 6 months pension.
It’s not just Age Concern it’s Concern with Age…thank you Julie
Goodbye AB School
This is all that’s left of our hall. If you get the chance drive round and you will see very little of the school still standing. I have very many happy memories of this building as not only was it my school but I also taught classes there for many years. Lets hope they build us a huge hall for our return in a couple of years.
My voice
Another fun week with Julie and her voice…. BUT how about I hear your voice a little more (not when I am doing the talk please) I love to hear you sing and of course a few whoop whoops every now and again always make me smile, remember a happy teacher makes a happy class, so help me to be happy….talk to me. xx
Have a good rest of the day, Happy Sunday and no more BLACK Friday ……
Julie x
