Hello Everyone, DID you change your clocks, what is the time?
It’s a long time since I have welcomed new members to Move 2 Lose classes, so if you are new this week, this is your Sunday Newsletter….. Welcome.
I have cancelled Tuesday nights class this week (27th) at Shrub End Hall as only 2 people had booked on-line and as you can appreciate it is not worth my while opening for such low numbers. This will be reviewed in the future as with all the other classes.
My classes are your classes and in these difficult times I hope we can all work together to get it right so if you have any questions/requests please contact me direct.
Pumpkin
Is pumpkin a vegetable or fruit?
A pumpkin, from a botanist’s perspective, is a fruit because it’s a product of the seed-bearing structure of flowering plants. Vegetables, on the other hand, are the edible portion of plants such as leaves, stems, roots, bulbs, flowers, and tubers.
What are benefits of eating pumpkin?
Rich in vitamins, minerals and antioxidants, pumpkin is incredibly healthy. What’s more, its low calorie content makes it a weight-loss-friendly food. Its nutrients and antioxidants may boost your immune system, protect your eyesight, lower your risk of certain cancers and promote heart and skin health.
Simply wash and dry the seeds of any pumpkin residue and bake in a preheated oven with a drizzle of olive oil for about 20 minutes. Once they have cooled you can scatter them over pies and soups, or eat them as a snack.
Half Term Week
All classes will run as normal this week apart from Tuesday night. Sometime in November I will be having a day off as my conservatory roof has a leak and needs replacing. I am having builders in and would prefer to be in charge of how many tea breaks they have!
Yes I should have had it changed in the summer during lockdown but it didn’t leak in the summer! Today I have buckets and towels out…great….
Halloween = Trick or Treat
In past years we have had so much fun dressing up in Halloween week: On Wednesday 28th @ Shrub End Hall please feel free to dig out your witches hat or devil horns. No nothing is the same, we can not make “spooky” noises but we can still have fun! Not sure how I can get any more things on my head what with a mic and face shield there is not a lot more I can wear, but you can. (if you want to)
Trick
From trick or treating to apple bobbing, the traditions of 31 October aren’t things you would immediately consider to be “Covid-safe”. So does that mean Halloween is cancelled this year?
Not necessarily, according to Dr Chris Smith, a virologist at the University of Cambridge.
But by taking precautions, Dr Smith says it is still possible to enjoy Halloween safely.
That means observing social distancing with people outside your household, standing well back when knocking on any doors and always keeping your hands clean using sanitiser.
Because it’s Halloween I’d say people are quite likely to be wearing a mask anyway so if they can make a face covering work it’s way into their costume then even better,” he adds.
Dr Smith also recommends avoiding elderly or vulnerable neighbours and perhaps agreeing with houses in advance that they are happy for you to visit for trick or treating.
Treat
What do you mean treat?
One sense of treat has to do with pleasures and special occasions. You might treat yourself to a pedicure, or give your dog a tasty treat. Treat can also mean “to carry on negotiations,” (the meaning that feeds into treaty), or “to take care of.” A doctor treats your illness with medication.
