Easter From MOVE 2 LOSE

Sharing is caring!

Easter what do you know?
The oldest and most important festival in the Christian calendar, culminates in the celebration that is Easter Sunday, which is a time when most of us get together with our families, share a meal and of course eat lots of chocolate! Most people know that it was on this day that Jesus was said to come to back to life after being crucified.
Hot cross buns are traditionally eaten by Christians in the UK on Good Friday (not…. sat/sun/mon as well) The bread serves as a reminder of Jesus dying for our sins due to the shape of the cross that appears across the top of the bun. They are generally consumed as a breakfast food and come straight from the oven. Once sold by street vendors in the cities, a well known nursery rhyme was founded based on the pitch sung by the local vendors: “Hot Cross Buns, Hot Cross Buns, One a penny, two a penny, Hot Cross Buns. If you do not like them, give them to your sons
(or Julie) one a penny, two a penny, hot cross buns.” There are several superstitions around the hot cross bun. Some say that when baked on Good Friday, they would never go mouldy. Others say that if hardened, they would protect a house from fire. Sailors were known to take them to sea, to protect them from shipwrecks.
Fish is the traditional food of choice for Good Friday suppers, with family get togethers and roast dinners on Sunday.
So what will you do on your Easter Sunday?
many will indulge in high fat foods, roast dinners, cholcolate, hot cross buns or all of these things! whilst others will get out in the garden wearing rain coats hats and gloves !! to hide eggs for “little ones”  colouring in rabbits or chickens, painting eggs, go for long walks and enjoy “family time” but lets please remember, it’s a holdiay weekend so make the most of it.
I’m pleased that most of the shops will be closed today, so go on do something different.
