Your Sunday News & Updates
Yesterday I sent out an email explaining all about the Body Conditioning courses and classes, please read carefully and don’t be afraid to ring or speak to me in class if you do not understand what is on offer.
Drinking from Plastic Bottle
Please keep your bottles of water out of the sun/warmth in your car, there is a lot of information in the media at the moment about chemicals”leaking” into the water.
A 2014 study by the University of Florida found that water stored in plastic bottles can be unsafe to drink after being left in a hot car. Some bottles made from polyethylene terephthalate released the chemicals antimony and bisphenol A, or BPA, when heated.
You can now purchase BPA free bottles.
Bra Bank and Beacon House, Council collections.
This week 2 black bags full of Bra’s where sent away to charity and yet another box of blankets and clothes made their way to Beacon House.
Please keep the items coming in as nothing gets wasted. With the change in the council with items for recycling please be “planet” aware and embrace the changes. It’s not difficult to seperate paper plastic cans and food waste:
You may just see your eating habits a little clearer with the rubbish you accumulate, how many coke bottles, how many pizza boxes and how much food do you waste or is it “waist”.
Words from Shane: Tracey our Tea ladies son…thank you.
Is your core tightened, yes but I feel frightened, as I hear tighten your core,
tomorrow I will feel sore.
But now I’m enlightened to see how my exercise limits have heightened,
and now I no longer dread, I enjoy the exercise instead.
Julie says you can keep it low and go at your own tempo, there’s no need to put on a show, your teacher will tell you how far to go.
Lastly, so you don’t flake, it’s important to drink water and have a quick break, controlling your breathing is all that it takes.
Vitamin D Deficiency

How can I get more vitamin D?

You can get vitamin D in three ways: through your skin, from your diet, and from supplements. Your body forms vitamin D naturally after exposure to sunlight. But too much can lead to skin aging and skin cancer, so many people try to get their vitamin D from other sources.
From about late March/early April to the end of September, most people should be able to get all the vitamin D they need from sunlight. The body creates vitamin D from direct sunlight on the skin when outdoors.
Between October and early March we don’t get enough vitamin D from sunlight.
There are a few foods that naturally have some vitamin D:
  • Fatty fish such as salmon, tuna, and mackerel
  • Beef liver
  • Cheese
  • Mushrooms
  • Egg yolks
You can also get vitamin D from fortified foods. You can check the food labels to find out whether a food has vitamin D. Foods that often have added vitamin D include
  • Milk
  • Breakfast cereals
  • Orange juice
  • Other dairy products, such as yogurt
  • Soy drinks
