A WOW week for Move 2 Lose

Sharing is caring!

OH MY GOODNESS
what an experience Sainsburys Sport Relief was !!!!
to hear my voice over that huge store was quite scary. I was interviewed on Dream Radio (not that anyone would have heard me) thank goodness, and to try and take a short exercise class at the bottom of the escalator, and yes in true Julie style I could not resist to bring into my routine
“please prepare to push the trolly off then end of the conveabelt”
ohh will they have me back next year ??
There have been many times in all the years I have been running my own business that I have felt the love and support from my members, but never as much as I have done this last week. So what did you all do: You signed the petition for AB school, many attended the meeting, many of you turned up at Sainsbury’s for Sport Relief either taking part, handing out cards or both. You made an effort to find AB school on Wed & Fri  with the close of Shrub End hall, It’s not just that, it’s the little messages that I get on FB or text messages wishing me luck, it’s that smile that you give or that little comment………………….. it’s just supporting me.
THANK YOU XXXX
It’s fair to say I am exhausted both mentaly and physicaly, it has been one of the most “mind testing” weeks for a long time!
Julie’s speech for “saving AB school meeting”

My name is Julie Palmer, not only did I attend Alderman Blaxill School I still live in Shrub End. I run my own business called Move 2 Lose. I am the only fitness instructor that offers exercise and nutritional advice in Colchester. With the governments “sugar tax” introduced in the Budget this week and the cost of treatment on the NHS for the rise in obesity and Diabetes surly it is even more important to provide venues for exercise.
Of the 10 classes I hold each week, 3 of these are held in Alderman Blaxill School and have done for a long time. On Monday of this week I had 73 attend across 2 classes from the ages of 15 – 75 and on Wednesday 32 attended.
I am not only an aerobics teacher but my classes are a social group, In January we collected 64 stone in weight of xmas cards and sent them to the National Trust…… they would have gone to shrub end land fill, we hold coffee morning’s for charity and I work closely with the neighbourhood to make sure there is a class available for everyone.
If you take AB away from our community what will the effect be:
Not everyone can afford to attend the all singing all dancing gyms in the town; where else can a husband & wife, mother, daughter and even grandmother attend an exercise class all together. How many times will I have to find another venue to hold my classes? The Arena was closed down and sits an eyesore right next to the Roman site, is that what you want for this building to sit empty- what a waste!
And before you say there are other schools in the area that I could use, Phillip Morant will hire….. but then throw me out when the hall is used for exams, and by putting more children in that school – this will not help.
No new halls are being built that are suitable for my business, or the needs of this town’s community.

My business name is Move to Lose, I fear shrub end residents will just lose.

“Julie sits down quickly and then shakes for 5 mins and yes I sparkled”

And wow what a response from local councilors, and a huge round of applause, well looks like I found my career after dancing lol
Thank you to all that attended.

Words from our local councilor:
Big thank you to Julie Palmer for bringing a group of her members and giving a great speech outlining her use of the premises for community. It went down well and made ECC realise that the community value the site.

Free range eggs are still available in class £1.20 for half a dozen and would anyone be interested in Duck Eggs £1.80 for half a dozen, please let me know.

Classes are as normal on Good Friday and Easter Saturday but NO classes on Bank Holiday Monday.
